Larry Barnett Executive Director
NARHA Certified Riding Instructor
Larry is the founder and CEO of REACH TRC. He is a retired Air Force Officer, combat veteran, and ex-fighter pilot, with undergraduate degrees in Financial Accounting and Marketing and a Master's degree in Aviation Management. He has been involved with therapeutic riding since 2000 and earned his NARHA Instructor Certification in 2004.
Larry has been married to his wife, Marilyn, for over forty years. They have two daughters; Kelly, the oldest who is a nurse, and the second daughter, Kimberly, an elementary school teacher.
When not working at the center, he enjoys riding and training horses, reading , playing the guitar, traveling, and most of all playing with his grand kids. His favorite saying about the center: "If you love kids and horses, this job's for you."
Barbara Epps
Program Director NARHA Certified Riding Instructor
CHA Certified Riding Instructor
Barbara, who holds a BA in Art, lives in Waco on the McLennan Community College Highlander Ranch with her husband, five dogs, a dozen goats, four horses, and a donkey. For the past 30 years she has worked in advertising, marketing, public relations, and graphic design.
Barbara received her first riding instructor certification from the Certified Horsemanship Association in 2008. In 2009 she got her NARHA therapeutic riding instructor certification. She has been volunteering in the therapeutic riding industry for years.
Barbara has three daughters, two of whom are expecting their first babies in the fall of 2010.
Candace Harrison Volunteer Director
Candace Harrison is a wife, mother, community volunteer, and lifelong horse person. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University.
She has served her community in many volunteer capacities, most recently serving as a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of H. O. T. Fair & Rodeo. From the H. O. T. organization she received the highest volunteer award, "Riding For The Brand."
She previously owned and operated Sunnybrook Stables, a boarding and riding lesson facility in Speegleville, Texas. Presently, she is busy caring for eight Mediterranean Miniature donkeys.
Marilyn Barnett Administrative Coordinator
Marilyn received a BS in Education and is a retired elementary school teacher who taught for 24 years. She has volunteered in a therapeutic riding center for several years. In addition to working at REACH, Marilyn also volunteers at her church.
Additional interests include riding with the Highlander Ranch Riding Club, playing the piano, reading, and traveling. Marilyn has many duties at home including taking care of four cats, two dogs, three horses, and a husband who can never find his glasses, wallet, keys or cell phone, to name a few.
